This prosthesis is inserted the same day, immediately after the extraction of the teeth to be replaced, which prevents any public outing with missing teeth. The immediate prosthesis is therefore made from the impression of the original teeth, before they are extracted.

• Since this prosthesis is designed while your natural teeth are still in the mouth, its shape, color and layout are easier to reproduce;
• Inserted immediately after extraction, it will act as a dressing, protecting tissues, limiting bleeding and ensuring uniform healing of the gums;
• Adjusting to talking with a prosthesis will be easier if you wear an immediate prosthesis than if you spend time without teeth and without a prosthesis while waiting for a permanent prosthesis;
• The prosthesis also helps you not to lose your chewing ability, to minimize the facial distortion that can occur when teeth are removed while preventing jaw joint disorders.

Note: If you have a new prosthesis manufactured after the healing period, you can keep the immediate prosthesis as a replacement prosthesis, which is very practical in the event of a breakage, loss or repair of your main prosthesis.

• The immediate prosthesis will require several readjustments (several visits for temporary relining);
• After soft tissue healing and narrowing of the underlying bone (3 to 6 months after extraction), permanent relining should be done at the immediate prosthesis or a new prosthesis should be manufactured;
• The relining of the prosthesis can produce unpleasant odours as they are subject to the proliferation of bacteria.

• Tilt of neighboring teeth;
• Extrusion of the antagonistic teeth;
• Sinus hyperpneumatization;
• Bone resorption;
• Jaw joint disorder;
• Difficulty chewing;
• Modification of the diet to be considered. For example, some foods such as raw vegetables and nuts will have to be cut before being ingested;

• Permanent modification of the profile (appearance of the “witch’s chin” and hollow cheeks).

• Dental examination and impression of the teeth before extraction: the prosthesis will be manufactured according to the envisaged appearance of the gums and bone after extraction;
• Extraction of teeth;
• Installation of the immediate prosthesis;
• Adjustments and relining according to the discomfort or pain felt. A permanent relining must be done or a new complete prosthesis must be manufactured.

• Clean the prosthesis after each meal;
• Soak the prostheses in a jar of water overnight to avoid distortion;
• Ideally, use dipping solutions specially designed for prostheses and follow the manufacturer’s instructions since dipping times and product life can vary from one product to another;
• If tartar deposits form on the prostheses, never try to “scratch” them; instead, take your prosthesis to your dentist, who has the appropriate products and instruments for descaling the prostheses;
• If the edentation is complete, at least one annual examination by the attending dentist is required to assess, among other things, the condition of the gums and supporting bone, as well as the general condition of the prosthesis.
