What is orthodontics?Orthodontics is a specialization of dentistry concerned with the diagnosis, interception and treatment of various problems related to tooth alignment and jaw positioning. The goals of orthodontics are both aesthetic and functional: orthodontic treatment aims to improve the overall appearance of the dentition and correct functional problems such as malocclusions, i.e. incorrect relationships between teeth that can cause pain, chewing problems, premature wear of the teeth and speech difficulties, among other things.
